Call for Donations

The Saskatchewan German Culture Assistance Fund Inc. (SGCAF) is a registered charity, a charitable corporation incorporated under the Non-profit Corporations Act of Saskatchewan. The charity is designated to preserving and furthering German culture in the province.

The objectives of SGCAF are to carry out charitable activities and to accept donations from organizations and / or individuals for charitable purposes.

Donors (organizations, families, individuals) who would like to support German culture, traditions, language and education can do so by making a donation to SGCAF earmarked for a particular charitable purpose and/or organization, in accordance with the objectives of SGCAF. When donating to the Saskatchewan German Council, you have a personal choice of which program you would like to support.

How can I make a donation?

Please fill out the donation card and indicate which item and/or organization you would like to support and with which amount. Send the card, along with a cheque to the SGCAF office. Donation cards and information can also be found below.

After making a donation, the donor will receive an official receipt for income tax purposes for cash donations minus an administration fee of 5%.

Can I make a donation to any organization of my choice?

Donations can be made towards organizations that meet the objectives of SGCAF which are to carry out charitable activities with the focus to preserve and further German culture in the province.

I would like to donate to the Saskatchewan German Council. What do I have to know?

Founded in 1984, the Saskatchewan German Council is a registered, volunteer-based, non-profit organization  committed to preserve, promote and further German language, traditions and culture for all people of Saskatchewan by engaging people of all ages to become active and involved partners in a vibrant multicultural community in Saskatchewan. Donation can be made to SGC through the SGCAF as a charitable donation and to receive  a  tax receipt. Donations made directly to SGC do not qualify for a tax receipt.

When you donate to the Saskatchewan German Council, you can support the following:

Postillion
The quarterly newsletter of the SGC keeps you up to date on the cultural activities in the German communities  in Saskatchewan with news and articles  from our member groups as well as information from the SGC.

The newsletter is mailed out to you for free. A donation will show your support for the publication!

Member Support
The SGC currently has 37 member groups with quite a variety of activities the groups are organizing throughout the year. These events include language lessons, cultural festivals, Christmas markets, choir concerts, cooking classes and more.

A donation will help support SGC’s member groups!

SGC Programs & Projects
The SGC is offering different programs & projects that add to the cultural experience of people in Saskatchewan. Among other, Programs & Projects include:

  • Kinderchor—A German Children’s Choir
  • Culture in the Kitchen—A Multicultural Cooking Series
  • German-English Family Story Time in the Library
  • Diversity Banners of Austria
  • Lecture Series about “Culture & History of German-Canadians in the Prairies”

Special Volunteer Award & Youth Award
Each year, the SGC recognizes some outstanding  volunteers of the German-Canadian community who are committed to promoting German  culture, language and traditions.
