German Cultural Traditions Books

During the project four books were developed each covering a specific German cultural tradition. The books are written in English and German and contain information about traditions, craft ideas, recipes, songs and poems as well as pictures. Each book can be purchased from the SGC or you can buy them as a set of 4. See Resources/SGC Publications for details on prices.

SGC Immigrant Handbook

Welcome! A Handbook for Immigrants to Saskatchewan, (2016) Saskatchewan German Council Inc.

The book is in German and English, and provides immigrants with a comprehensive and province-wide guide to permanently settling in Saskatchewan. The guide includes essential information for newcomers in regards to immigration, housing, employment, education, banking, and other important areas. The handbook is given out on a demand basis. To obtain a hard copy, contact the SGC office or your member group.

Diversity of Austria Banners

The diversity project “Beyond Alps & Apfelstrudel” is an introduction to both the traditional and modern Austria, its rich culture and history, famous cuisine, stunning architecture and much more. The banners also include information on Austrian migration to Canada and recognize famous Austrian-Canadians in Saskatchewan.

Diversity of Germany Banners

The diversity project “Beyond Autobahn and Oktoberfest” intends to create an interest in German language, culture and traditions. It further aims to educate and inform about aspects of the history of the German people that might not be known to many.

The following topics are included: Language, Waves of Immigrants to Canada, Art & Architecture, Literature, Music, Fact on Germany, History of the 20th Century, Public Figures, Cultural Traditions, Invented in Germany and Traditional Cuisine.

Luther Exhibit
