Membership Application

The Saskatchewan German Council has five categories of membership:

  • Organization Membership
  • Individual Membership
  • Supporting Membership
  • Honorary Membership
  • Associate Membership

To apply for a membership,please download the appropriate form. Member applications are reviewed twice a year during the SGC Board of Directors Meeting.

Organization Membership

2011-2012 application form 2nd half 2011-2012 Funding Application Form and Funding Guidelines

For programs and projects starting between October 1,2011 and March 31,2012. Application deadline:September 15,2011

Description:

Organization Membership shall be open to any group or society whose Constitution is in harmony with that of the Council. A copy of the Constitution of the group or society shall accompany application for membership. Voting upon the application of such group or society shall take place at the next meeting of the Board of Directors following receipt of the application of the group or society. A two-thirds majority of the Directors present at such a meeting shall be required to approve the group or society as a member. A group or society so approved shall be declared an organization member of the Council upon payment of the annual fees for the current year.

Benefits:

Each group or society having organization membership may appoint two voting delegates to the Council. Organization members have the privilege of submitting project proposals for budget consideration. They also may access a range of council programs made available to the general membership. Each person (or family) belonging to an organization member receives the SGC newsletter,the Postillion,at no charge;are welcome to attend general meetings;and are eligible for election to the SGC Board of Directors.

Fee:

$30 per year

Individual Membership

SGC Membership Application Form

Description:

Individual Membership shall be open to any reputable person interested in the preservation of German culture and who accepts the Constitution of the Council. Voting upon the application of any individual shall take place at the next meeting of the Board of Directors following receipt of the application of any individual. A two-thirds majority of the Directors present at such a meeting shall be required to approve the individual as a member. An individual approved shall be declared an individual member of the council upon payment of the annual fees for the current year.

Benefits:

Each member has voting rights only if elected to the Board of Directors. Each member receives the SGC newsletter,the Postillion,at no charge and is welcome to attend general meetings.

Fee:

$15 per year

Supporting Membership

SGC Membership Application Form

Description:

Supporting Membership shall be open to any reputable business,association,or individual interested in the preservation of German culture and who accepts the Constitution of the council. Voting upon admission of such business,association,and/or individual shall take place at the next meeting of the Board of Directors following receipt of the application for membership. A two-thirds majority of the Directors present at such a meeting shall be required to approve the business,association,or individual member. Such business,association,or individual so approved shall be declared a supporting member upon payment of annual fees for the current year.

Benefits:

Input and advice welcome on all German Council matters,but no voting rights. Receives Postillion.

Fee:

$45 per year

Honorary Membership

Description:

Honorary Membership may be conferred upon any individual who has rendered notable service to the Council,or anyone else on whom the council wishes to confirm that status. A two-thirds majority vote in favour by ballot is necessary of those present at an Annual Meeting of the Council upon recommendation signed by one voting member and seconded by another voting member. An Honorary Member shall have none of the obligations of membership in the Council and shall not be entitled to vote or hold office.

Benefits:

Input and advice welcome on all German Council matters,but no voting rights. Receives Postillion.

Fee:

No fee required.

Associate Membership

Description:

Associate Membership shall be open to any group or society that wishes to be affiliated with SGC at arms length.

Benefits:

Same as for organization members except has no voting rights.

Fee:

$15 per year
